Change of clothes - in cool weather bring two
sets of clothes, one for on the river and the other for the ride home.
River shoes - old tennis shoes, aqua shoes, etc.
Shoes of some kind are required for all river trips! No
Exceptions!
Swim wear - Swim suits or T-shirts and shorts
are recommended in the summer.
Rain gear - you can never tell when a rain or
thunder storm will move in.
Suntan lotion / Sunscreen and a hat
Sunglasses and a eyeglass retainer
Insect repellant - While insects are rarely bothersome,
they are more so in the evening and in areas well off the water.
Food- bring a picnic
lunch for the day ( we stock snacks at our store and sandwiches are available
locally).
Drinking water - Bring lots of water and some
other beverages of your choice. We sell drinks at the store. NO GLASS CONTAINERS
ALLOWED ON THE RIVER!
Cooler for food and drinks - ice is available
at our store for those that forgot it. NO STYROFOAM COOLERS ALLOWED.
Fishing equipment and fishing license - a complete
selection of fishing tackle is available to purchase at our store. Fishing
licenses are available also.
Trash bags - lets all keep the river clean and
beautiful.
Rope - make sure to bring enough to tie in all
your gear.
Camera - if you bring your camera, please try
to waterproof it the best you can. Disposable waterproof cameras
are available at our store.
Waterproof containers - helps keep all your personal
gear dry. We rent and sell dry bags in our store.
Camping gear for those on overnight trips:
tent
ground cover
sleeping bag
mattress pad
cook stove
cooking utensils
paper plates
flashlight or lightweight lantern
matches and lighter fluid
additional food and drinks
additional trash bags
marshmallows
Don't take anything on the river that you can't
afford to lose or get wet.
Lock your valuables in your vehicle and leave
your keys with us - very important as many guests lose their
keys in the river!
The
other stuff:
All river activities are risk sports - both known and
unknown dangers. There are NO lifeguards
or safety personnel on the river.
All participants will be required to read and sign our
liability waiver and assumption of risk form.
All participants under the age of eighteen must have
a parent or guardian sign the liability waiver and assumption of risk form.
For your protection, three
is the maximum number of people per canoe.
We operate rain or shine - no refunds due to rain on
the day of your trip.
Reservation cancellations 72 hours prior to the reservation
date receive a full deposit refund - cancellations within the 72 hour period
result in forfeiture of the deposit amount.
ALCOHOL AND WATERSPORTS DON'T
MIX - SAVE THE PARTY FOR AFTER THE RIVER TRIP!
Anyone under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol is
subject to arrest by state and local authorities.
Front Royal Canoe Company reserves the right to refuse
service to anyone we feel is unfit to participate in the river activities
being offered.
Please arrive at least 30 (thirty) minutes prior to your
scheduled departure time - late arrivals risk delayed service - all trips
depart promptly.
After you arrive at our office, be sure to observe all
of the posted conditions:
weather forecast
river temperature
river level
river gauge reading
paddling conditions
watercraft return time
Come prepared to experience all the wonderful sights
and sounds of Nature in the beautiful Shenandoah River Valley - for this
reason we request that you leave the radios (boom boxes) at home.
