The Shenandoah River and the Shenandoah Valley are blessed to have a new state park coming to our area. The Raymond R. "Andy" Guest, Jr./Shenandoah River State Park is scheduled to open on May 15, 1999. The park features nearly 1500 acres of rolling hills and 5.5 miles of river front. This early phase of the park offers a boat landing, day use area, primitive camping area, great scenic views of the river and the valley, and loads of hiking trails. Reservations are recommended for the primitive campground. Click here to see a map of the park.
Front Royal Canoe Company is pleased to offer to our guests trips in and around the park. We will be offering many different trips for river users and park guests. Trips can be arranged to end or start at the park. For park guests that pre-register at Front Royal Canoe Co., we will be glad to drop boats off at the park for use during your stay in the park. Overnight canoe trip customers can make reservations to stay at the parks primitive campground (see overnight trip campgrounds). Also, guests are welcome to use the park as a picnic area on any of our regular trips that pass the park. Groups and individuals can make reservations for the use of one of the parks four covered shelters. The shelters have picnic tables and grills, as well as water and restroom facilities close by.
