Full Moon Floats were originally Front Royal Canoe Company staff outings after busy days of taking care of our guests.  The staff decided that it might be nice to offer the Full Moon Floats every month to the public.  After some thought, we have decided to run Full Moon Floats for our guests to enjoy.  Nothing is more relaxing than floating down the moon-lit river in the calm of the night.

Our guided Full Moon Floats are offered the night of the full moon(listed below).  All participants will need to meet at the Front Royal Canoe Co. office by 8:00pm.  After signing up, we are all transported to Karo landing, where we will be briefed on the trip.  Once the group is briefed, we fit life vests, grab paddles and boats, and head to the river. 

All boats will be lighted with low output glow sticks on the stern of the boat.  The glow sticks help us keep track of all boats as we make our way down the river.  The group will be guided by two Front Royal Canoe Co. guides in seperate boats.  One guide will lead the group down the river, while the other will bring up the rear.  

The trip runs three miles from Karo landing to the Front Royal Canoe Co. landing.  After encountering Karo rapid (class II), the river becomes calm and slow with lots of nice riffles (class I) to add to the excitement.  As we float down the river enjoying the night air, moonlight, and stars, we will be serenaded by frogs, birds, and the nighttime critters that wish they could be on the trip with us. Nearing the end of the trip, we will stop, get out of our boats, and enjoy a campfire.  We will offer snacks and beverages during this break period.  When everyone is ready to move on, we will get back in our boats and paddle the last quarter mile to the take-out.  Depending on the river level, nighttime air temperature, and the amount of fun we are having, the trip should last between two and three hours.  Note:  Due to staffing requirements for special trips, we do have a minimum and maximum number of participants on these trips.  Make sure to reserve early as these trips will book rapidly.

Price includes:  canoe or raft, paddles, life vests, maps, shuttle service, basic riverside instruction, guides, campfire, snacks and beverages.  No discounts apply on our Full Moon Floats.
